Eight-year-old, pony mare with multiple, mixed sarcoids.
This patient presented with multiple, mixed sarcoids, which had been treated previously and unsuccessfully with a variety of topical treatments. Of particular concern was the large, 12 cm diameter, ulcerated sarcoid on the inner right thigh.
10 weeks after surgery
18 months post-surgery
The surgery was performed under standing sedation, with all of the patient’s numerous sarcoids excised at that time. Despite a necessarily lengthy procedure, the patient recovered rapidly and uneventfully. On following-up the case, the owner was delighted to report that the pony mare remained in remission two and a half years after the initial surgery.
