Ten-year-old, Cremello gelding with malignant melanoma.
This patient presented with a large, rapidly-enlarging, ulcerated melanoma at the commissure of the lips, with a smaller, but also rapidly-growing, tumour just forward of the primary tumour. The patient recovered unproblematically and swiftly. Although subsequent histopathology confirmed that these were highly aggressive melanomata, there has been no recrudescence of the tumours at this site some 18 months post-surgery.
